The photo series presents four stories of marvellous men. They are selected from many examples in which we still often believe today and which are accompanied by many doubts. We define ourselves, create our world view through the prism of history, often without analysing the new facts and discoveries.
What impact on our lives and our world would the realisation have that we live in a completely different time, that miracles do not exist, that you can be immortal and that a person has never visited the moon? Are the roots of the past so important for us to define our own identity?
How much hoax do we finally accept in our faith?
1722

The photo tells of the great king of the Franks and Lombards, the Holy Roman Emperor, the father of a united Europe, Charlemagne, who, according to the phantom time theory, never existed. Is it possible that 300 years of our history have simply been invented? Did the events between the 7th and 10th centuries really exist? There is much to suggest that they did, but there are also arguments against this theory. The theory of the calendar hoax has never been fully challenged, but neither has it been confirmed.

The phantom time theory concerns the period between 614 and 911 AD, which is 297 years, which would mean that the year of this photo was not 2019, but 1722. If we can't determine the time we live in, is there anything we can be sure of?

The inscription "Karolus Magnus + Cogito Ergo Dubito" is engraved on the sword in the photo, which means "Charlemagne + I am, therefore I doubt." The paraphrase of Descartes is a kind of invitation to seek the truth, but also to answer the fundamental question: What truth are we prepared to accept?

Ecce Homo

The photo is an excuse to reflect on the function of the miracles of Jesus Christ in Christian dogma. What power would his science have if all miracles would be removed from the New Testament and the evidence for his existence - such as the Shroud of Turin or the documents from the Dead Sea - were refuted? Would it play such an important role in shaping the whole of Western civilisation? Could faith in this case be based on the power of human wisdom and not on the supernatural abilities attributed to him and fabricated evidence for his existence?

Wundermann

Count de Saint-Germain is a historical figure who lived for over 300 years according to many surviving documents. He was a man of many talents, a linguist, poet and musician. He predicted the death of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI by the guillotine, was a friend of Napoleon and helped Catherine of Russia to ascend to the throne. However, he achieved fame through alchemy and the elixir of youth. He was last seen in Paris in 1874. He was called the Wunderman.

On the photo: the year was 1879and the Second Industrial Revolution was taking on ever greater proportions. Count de Saint-Germain is sitting on a chair in the living room, which is lit by electric lamps. He holds a lump of gold in his hand and a piece of lead lies on the table. Does anyone still believe in alchemy or immortality?

Fly Apollo

50 years after the landing on the moon, we are still not sure about this event. Was the Apollo 11 mission not just a hoax? Did Neil Armstrong really stand on the moon?

The photo shows the moment when the Apollo 11 crew set foot on the lunar surface. The magic of the moment is dulled by a fly moving around on top of the helmet. Would such evidence be enough to dispel doubts and take mankind a big step further in the search for the true?

Postscriptum

These four stories show the belief in superheroes. But time brings changes. The superheroes are leaving.

The photo shows a hybrid - a wishing robot connected to an ATM. It is an allegory of today's world, in which faith and ideals are being replaced by technology and money.

How uncritical are we of the objects of our faith? Where are we going now?
