Years ago, during my studies, one of my topics in the poster studio was to create a visual instruction: „how to rest?”. I have tried in many different ways to find the answer, but without success. It made me realize then that I don’t know, how to take a rest.
Many years later, thanks to a completely random encounter, I finally understood what this skill is all about. The vacation scenario was usually the same: the vacation period was approaching, we had to go somewhere because we need to rest. The key was the word „must”. During my stay one day, when I went to a wild, empty beach in a charming corner of a national park, what happened to me caused a completely new perspective on the definition of rest.
I was diving without equipment, and when my body demanded one last time for oxygen, I turned to the surface to swim. However, what I saw above me for a split second stopped me. Above me, I saw the profiles of three naked women with Rubensian shapes. There was no time to swim a little farther away and avoid the awkwardness. On the surface, I appeared next to them. Slightly confused, I said „sorry”. The ladies started to laugh out loud, the situation made them extremely amused. The story stuck in my head, I have the impression that it brought me closer to the secret formula of how to really relax.
Can we fully enjoy the moment by saving it only in memories? In the age of social media, can we do something else just for ourselves? Are we able to enjoy the moment?
